Classes for people wishing to become a referee will be starting from Monday 8th September . There will be courses held in both the David Keswick Centre, Dumfries and Minigaff Pavillion in Newton Stewart. The course will run for two and a half hours each Monday night for 8 weeks. Anyone interested should contact Donald McGuffie on 01387 256932 or Willie McKnight on 01671 403306 or turn up on the night.

13/12/13 - Training will be held on Monday 23rd December instead of Tuesday 24th December next week at the David Keswick Athletic centre. Times are as normal.

5/12/13 - All Meetings from now on will be held in the Cairndale instead of DG1. 

1/10/13 -There will be a fitness test for members wishing to officiate as an assistant referee on Tuesday 22nd October 2013 at the David Keswick Athletic Centre, Dumfries.

01/10/13 - Training next Tuesday (08/10/13) will take place in the gym at the David Keswick Centre and then onto the MUGA. This is due to the running track being unavailable

19/09/13 - Congratulations to Finlay Currie and Sandy McNay for being awarded the James McWhan and Jim Carnochan trophies respectively at the September Monthly Meeting.

11/08/13 - The September Monthly Meeting has been rearranged to Thursday 19th September. This is to accomodate the visit of John Fleming. As DG1 is unavailable on this date, members will be advised by E-Mail as to the venue.

5.3.13 Grassroots Referee Proposals - The Head of Referee Operations has sent a Q & A document which has been produced based upon questions which have been submitted on the proposals. The document is available on the Members page

17.2.13 The next meeting will be held in DG One on the 14th March 2013 at 7.15PM. This month's guest speaker will be Brian Winter, former Category 1 referee.

At the February Monthly Meeting our guest was Andy Halliday, an assistant referee in the English Premiership who used to live in the Newton Stewart region. He gave us a presentation on developing as referees and a brief background on his career. 25/06/13 - Pre season training will begin next week ( Tuesday 2/7/13) on the pitches at the High School due to the work being carried out on the running track. 7.15pm for a 7.30pm start.

25/06/13 - The Association are planning a run in Ae Forest on Tuesday 16/7/13 instead of training at the Keswick Centre. More details to follow.

30/05/13 - A reminder to all members that Fees are due to be paid to the Secretary or the Treasurer by the end of Friday. Details on how much you should pay are included in an E-Mail from the Secretary.

10.05.13 Regional Training Day - The recent letters sent to members by the SFA have omitted to say that the venue is Stirling University. If you intend attending then please let the Manager know your preference for going either on the Friday night or on the Saturday morning (leaving at around 8am). Once the numbers attending and their preference are known a decision will be made on travel arrangements.

As some of you may know Kenny Hope is retiring after many years of service to Refereeing in Scotland and Europe, Glasgow Referees' Association are having a Retirement Dinner for Kenny on Saturday 10th March, in the Hilton Grosvenor Hotel Glasgow  (http://www.hilton.co.uk/glasgowgrosvenor) 7pm for 7:30pm start. Ticket prices are £35 each. Guest speakers will be ex-FIFA Referees, Willie Young and Kenny Clark, if you would like to attend this event could you please email me with the number of tickets you require.

30/11/11 - There will be a fitness test at the David Keswick Athletic Centre on Tuesday 6 December 2011 for members on the assistant referees list. If any additional members wish to join the list then a short seminar will also be arranged.

16/11/11 - next monthly meeting will be held at 7.15pm on Thursday 8 December 2011 at DGOne, Hoods Loaning, Dumfries.  Please note that the meeting will be in the bar area on the middle floor of the facility. Willie Young is now unable to attend this meeting and will now speak at the January 2012 meeting

31/10/11 - The Social Committee is in the process of organising a Christmas Meal for all Association members.  This will take place at the Pizzeria, Dock Park, Dumfries on Saturday 10th December at 7.00pm.  The meal is £26.95pp for a 3 course meal. Members wishing to attend the meal please let Lloyd or Billy know via telephone or email before 03/11/2011 to ensure plenty of notice for the booking.  We hope you can all attend! 

19/10/11 - Recently the Scottish FA launched a new Corporate Plan ‘Scotland United’ and has been making changes to improve all aspects of how they operate. This is an exciting and important time for Scottish Football as they have for the first time a clear direction together with an improved structure where non-professional football associations have a stronger role to support the growth and development of our game. Details of the forthcoming Regional Roadshows which will form a key part of the roll-out of our new plan are given in the attached letter.

18/10/11 - next monthly meeting will be held at 7.15pm on Thursday 10 November 2011 at DGOne, Hoods Loaning, Dumfries. Representatives of the local amateur and youth leagues & from the Southern Counties have been invited to attend the meeting and will be able to answer any questions that you may have. 

 25/9/11 - next monthly meeting will be held at 7.15pm on Thursday 13 October 2011 at DGOne, Hoods Loaning, Dumfries. Steven McLean, Referee Recruitment and Education Manager for the SFA, will be in attendance to give a presentation on his role in the Referee Development Department and will also take the monthly coaching slot.

The tournament involves teams from Sweden, Russia, Ukraine and Denmark and Brian will officiate along with Cat 1 referee Alan Muir

As you may be aware, the conclusion of season 2008/09 marked the end of Donald’s service to the Referee Categories for Senior Football, after a dedicated and long-standing service.  To mark this occasion, a meal has been arranged for Saturday 27th June 2009, details as below:-

There was a meeting of all Association Referee Instructors & Coaching Co-ordinators held at Hampden Park today.  Donald McGuffie, Colin Saunders, Brian Templeton and Derek Stocks attended.  Donald & Colin attended the Instructors Course giving presentations on Laws 9 & 10.  Brian and Derek attended the Coaching Co-ordinators Course and gave a presentation on Offside.

A regional training day is being organised in conjunction with the Ayrshire, Glasgow & Renfrewshire Associations for all Category 4, 5, 6, Probationary & Trainee members and will be held in Ayrshire on 3rd May 2009. Further details and the venue will be advised in due course. All members are encouraged to attend this event.
